A puppy’s temperament is shaped way more by breed, training, and environment than whether it’s male or female. You can have a super calm, sweet boy and a wild, stubborn girl—or the exact opposite. It’s like people… gender doesn’t define personality.  And most “differences” disappear after spaying/neutering. 

Here are some common myths:

• “Boy dogs are more aggressive” → Not true. Aggression is about training and socialization.

• “Girl dogs are easier” → Also not guaranteed. Some can be just as stubborn or independent.

• “Boy dogs are more affectionate” → Totally depends on the individual dog.

Remember you’re not choosing a gender—you’re choosing a personality.

Hi, we are Desiree and Gary Awad and have been breeding Sheltie puppies for almost 30 years as small breeders in Southeast Michigan. We breed Shelites because we love the breed and want to preserve it.   More and more people call us with stories of poor breeding, difficult dogs and outright scams.

All our puppies are AKC-registered, current on vaccines, dewormed, and checked by a Veterinarian and come with a heath certificate along with a goodie bag and blanket that smells like mom. Also a small toy, collar with leash, puppy chow so you can transition to what you would like to feed them and your AKC packet of information to get you started. You will take home a well loved and cared for puppy as a new member of your family.
